Atlas Survival Shelters VS The Competition
Ron visited a disabled veteran lady in Minnesota who bought a shelter from Rising S Bunkers and she wants you to see her bunker after 8 months. All we can say it’s disgraceful!
Our Shelters
Competitors

1. OURS: Atlas with a 90 degree turn to attenuate gamma radiation. Included is a mudroom with a shower for decontamination.

1. THEIRS: Competitor-X with a straight entry, and no 90 degree turn to attenuate gamma radiation. Visibly missing is a mudroom and a place to decontaminate.

2. OURS: Our standard AndAir VA-150 NBC Air Filtration System with manual override and adjustable air flow valves. We use only military grade air systems.

2. THEIRS: This is their plastic home made air system with no manual override or any way to adjust airflow. This system will not meet Israeli standards!

3. OURS: Atlas Survival Shelters uses only military grade NBC Air Filtration Systems from companies like AndAir or Bethel who produce thousands per year. All NBC Air Systems from Atlas will have a manual crank in case power is lost. All Atlas air systems are made from metal housings and have readable gauges and adjustments for air flow.

3. THEIRS: Competitor-X’s home-built filter is not worth the plastic it’s cast in. This air system which has no manual crank and was made only to save money will not meet Israeli standards and is just a way to cut costs and take advantage of unknowing customers who have trusted them to save their families’ lives in case of a disaster.

4. OURS: Shown is the standard NBC air system used by Atlas Survival Shelters. Notice the quality of our air intake manifold. This system brings in 50% more air than Competitor-X’s home made air system.

4. THEIRS: This is Competitor-X’s standard air intake. They have a very simple unproven system that does not meet Israeli standards and is home made to save money. This is an actual photograph in their bunker.

5. OURS: This is our AndAir overpressure blast valve that can also be manually pulled closed in case of an attack from looters.

5. THEIRS: This is their home made blast valve that cannot be closed off manually. Notice the rust after 12 months.

6. OURS: The Atlas hatch is made of 3/8″ AR500 bullet proof steel and is embedded in 12″ of concrete. This hatch is called a nuclear blast hatch and was originally designed by the US Nuclear Civil Defense Department. Atlas would never make a hatch that is not bullet proof or only 1/8″ thick.

6. THEIRS: This hatch is one year old and is already rusted out. The lid is made of 1/8″ sheet metal steel and has a screen door handle for its lock. This is a hatch for a tornado shelter, not a nuclear fallout shelter!

7. OURS: The Atlas hatch has a tamper proof steel box to protect the tamper proof padlock from torches or a grinder.

7. THEIRS: This is a screen door latch being used to protect the inhabitants from marauders.

8. OURS: Our shelters are famous for under the floor storage. Both our Round and Square shelters have under floor storage, unlike our competition.

8. THEIRS: You feel like you are living in a pantry closet with boxes and water barrels everywhere.

9. OURS: Deeper is better! This culvert shelter is 10 feet deep, and can go up to 42 feet deep. Square shelters can go 4 feet deep max realistically.

9. THEIRS: Pictures don’t lie. Competitor-X’s shelter is only 2-4 feet deep. It’s deep enough to shield you from gamma radiation, but not Texas heat.

10. OURS: Our stairs are hot dipped galvanized and we use pressure treated marine wood for the steps so they never mold or rot.

10. THEIRS: All steel primed and painted – and as you can tell, completely rusted after 12 months on this particular bunker.

11. OURS: All our air pipes are hot-dipped galvanized to prevent rust. Lifespan should be 100 years.

11. THEIRS: All steel primed and painted – and as you can tell, completely rusted after 12 months on this particular pipe.

12. OURS: Our doors are both gas tight and water proof. If the shelter is not air tight, biological, chemical, and some radiation will get into the shelter.

12. THEIRS: Their doors are just solid metal doors focused on stopping bullets. They have forgotten that these shelters are supposed to be protected from NBC.

13. OURS: Our interiors are made to feel like a home.

13. THEIRS: Their interiors feel like a county jail.

14. OURS: Our interior designers take pride in our finished product. You will feel right at home in an Atlas shelter.

14. THEIRS: Competitor-X makes simple shelters.

15. OURS: Anything that we do not hot-dip galvanize we will at least sandblast and apply either an automotive type of paint on the interior and the hatches. You don’t see your car rusting, do you?

15. THEIRS: They do not sandblast. Without sandblasting, the paint just will not stick to the steel. This explains why their shelters are rusting out so fast.

16. OURS: The Atlas hatch is made of 3/8″ AR500 bullet proof steel and is embedded in 12″ of concrete. Our hatch is hydraulically lifted due to the extreme weight of the hatch. The emergency jack that’s included with all shelters will lift 16,000 pounds.

16. THEIRS: Their hatch is the same hatch you use on tornado shelters. Their hatch is made of 1/8″ thick mild steel. They’re more focused on making their interior door bullet proof. The exterior hatch should be bullet proof and the interior door should be gas tight to do it right.

17. OURS: To enter into an Atlas designed shelter, you must first go through a bullet proof nuclear blast hatch, and then enter through two gas tight marine grade doors to enter the living quarters. The mud room – or decontamination room – has a shower in it as specified by the nuclear regulatory department.

17. THEIRS: To enter into our competitor’s shelter, you go through a mild steel tornado style hatch and then at the bottom of the stairs is a metal door that is not air tight or gas tight. There is no place to disrobe or take a decontamination shower. Their shelter is just a tornado shelter with a home made air system in it, and now they call it a bomb shelter.

18. OURS: This image shows a properly engineered entrance into a nuclear fallout shelter. It must have a 90 degree turn at the bottom of the stairs. All Atlas shelters are engineered correctly and built correctly.

18. THEIRS: Competitor-X’s shelter is not engineered correctly or built correctly. It does not have a 90 degree turn at the bottom of the stairs as shown in their own design. This, however, is a fine tornado shelter.

19. OURS: Notice our tamper-proof air pipe system. Our system not only protects you from vandals, but it also cools the air down before it enters into the shelter through our patented air condensation system. Also, our air pipes are 6″ in diameter compared to 4″ in diameter for Competitor-X, which means you get 50% more air.

19. THEIRS: Competitor-X has no such system. They simply run a 4″ diameter air pipe straight up from the shelter to the surface. On a hot summer day, you will be pulling in 90 degree+ air into your shelter, which could suffocate you.

20. OURS: We use 6″ diameter galvanized steel for our air intake pipes. Our system brings in 50% more air.

20. THEIRS: They use 4″ diameter primed steel for their air intake pipes. Their system brings in 50% less air.

21. OURS: Our owner is an award-winning designer and fabricator with 37 years experience.

21. THEIRS: Their owner has 14 years experience.

22. OURS: Atlas tries to hot-dip galvanize as many items as we can. Those items that are not galvanized are sandblasted first, and primed with an automotive primer and painted with an automotive paint. Yes the same paint as on your car.

22. THEIRS: Competitor-X’s staircase in this picture is 12 months old, according to the owner. It is rusting because it is not sandblasted and has a cheap primer and paint.
